The Scott Beavers will head out to face off against the Colby Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Colby will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Scott extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. Everything went the Beavers' way against Lakin as they made off with a 15-5 win. That's two games straight that the Beavers have won by exactly ten runs.
Scott got a massive performance out of Payton Gentry, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Kaylee Felker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Gentry wasn't the only one making solid contact: Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
11 must be Colby's lucky number: they beat Russell with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Broncos 11-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Ryler Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hailey Bolyard was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Sadie Cheney, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
The win got Scott back to even at 4-4. As for Colby, their record now sits at 8-4.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Scott has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. However, it's not like Colby struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott came out on top in a nail-biter against Colby when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
