Softball Game Preview: Headland Rams vs. Opp Bobcats

The Headland Rams will take on the Opp Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Headland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Headland fell victim to Houston Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Raiders. The Rams have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Headland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shaylee Greathouse, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Opp got themselves on the board against Pike County on Thursday, but Pike County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Opp has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Headland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Headland might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Opp in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
