Soccer Game Preview: Oakdale vs. Central Catholic

The Oakdale Mustangs will face off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Oakdale will be strutting in after a victory while Central Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Oakdale will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Sierra, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Oakdale never let Sierra onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 840th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 243rd).

Meanwhile, Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against Mountain House, falling 7-0.

The win made it two in a row for Oakdale and bumps their season record up to 8-9. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Oakdale took their victory against Central Catholic in their previous meeting on January 7th by a conclusive 4-1. Will Oakdale repeat their success, or does Central Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
