Basketball Recap: Providence Athletic Club Takes a Loss

Providence Athletic Club fought the good fight in their overtime game against Anderson C on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Anderson C Cavaliers by a score of 67-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since November 4, 2023.

Despite the loss, Providence Athletic Club still got an impressive performance from Freeman Bult, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bult a new career-high in points. Brody Tyler was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Providence Athletic Club has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Anderson C, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Providence Athletic Club won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coastal HomeSchool at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Providence Athletic Club knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Coastal HomeSchool likes a good challenge. As for Anderson C, they will welcome New Hope Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
