Softball Recap: Whitney Wildcats vs. Rocklin Thunder
Whitney had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Rocklin Thunder get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 23rd.
Not much got past Taylor Cordell, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Rocklin off the board. Cordell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Whitney's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Flindt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Whitney has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
