Softball Game Preview: Genoa Area Comets vs. Clyde Fliers

The Genoa Area Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Clyde Fliers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Genoa Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Genoa Area after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 8-3 to Otsego. The Comets have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Izzy Britt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mya Colvin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Clyde made easy work of Calvert on Friday and carried off a 9-2 win. The Fliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Clyde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Genoa Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Genoa Area couldn't quite get it done against Clyde in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 as they fell 5-0. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
