Basketball Game Preview: Gibbs Gladiators vs. Hollins Royals

The Gibbs Gladiators will take on the Hollins Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Gibbs is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 59 points on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Lakewood on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 58-23 loss at the hands of the Spartans. The Gladiators haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hollins). Everything went their way against Admiral Farragut on Friday as Hollins made off with a 46-20 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Royals as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hollins' victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for Gibbs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Everything came up roses for Gibbs against Hollins in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-12 win. In that matchup, Gibbs amassed a halftime lead of 43-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
