Volleyball Recap: Bryan Bears vs. Gross Catholic Cougars
Bryan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gross Catholic Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
While Bryan had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least nine points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gross Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kali Wonderlich, who had five digs and five aces. The dominant performance gave Wonderlich a new career-high in aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Sigmund, who had nine digs.
Bryan's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Gross Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Bryan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory vs. Cornerstone Christian School on the 21st. Gross Catholic has also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Burke on the 21st.
