Baseball Recap: Port Edwards Takes a Loss

Port Edwards fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sevastopol on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The Blackhawks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Port Edwards saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynden Beck, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Beck has become a key player for the Blackhawks: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Ayden Schumer was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Port Edwards now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Sevastopol, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-9.

As of now, neither Port Edwards nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
