Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. Central Lancers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Northeast Vikings had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lancers 73-36 at home. Northeast has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 33 points or more this season.

Michael Freeman was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Bobby Perry, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: Yamir Knight-Parker went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 1 assist. That was a full 63.9% of Central's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northeast racked up 19 assists.

Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Northeast's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Simon Gratz at 3:15 p.m. on February 13th. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
