Baseball Recap: Bloomingdale Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Bloomingdale hadn't done well against Steinbrenner recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bloomingdale Bulls won by a run and slipped past the Steinbrenner Warriors 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Bulls as they're now sitting on six straight.

Bloomingdale got a great performance from Javier Navas-Hoyer as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Navas-Hoyer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isaiah Perez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Bloomingdale's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Steinbrenner, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Bloomingdale will challenge Lennard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomingdale's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Lennard's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Steinbrenner, they will face off against Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Steinbrenner: 2.6, Robinson: 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
