Preview: Central Mountain Wildcats vs. Milton Black Panthers
Central Mountain is 7-2 against Milton since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Central Mountain Wildcats on the road again and play against the Milton Black Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Central Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Central Mountain was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to Shikellamy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Central Mountain came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Shikellamy is ranked 430th).
The losing side was boosted by Caleb Mahoney, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Hoy, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Milton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Bucktail by a score of 65-52. The victory was some much needed relief for Milton as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Central Mountain bumped their record down to 9-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Milton, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
Central Mountain beat Milton 62-50 in their previous meeting on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
