Baseball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Cadets vs. Howell Vikings

The Christian Brothers Cadets are taking a road trip to face off against the Howell Vikings at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Christian Brothers will face Howell after dropping another heartbreaker against Jackson on Tuesday, which marked the third time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Cadets fell just short of the Fighting Indians by a score of 5-4. The Cadets haven't had much luck with the Fighting Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Corde Gage was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Howell had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They skirted past the Patriots 6-4. Six seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Howell's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 31-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Brothers, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Christian Brothers couldn't quite finish off Howell in their previous matchup back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Cadets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
