Recap: Hillcrest Jaguars vs. Blount Leopards
The Hillcrest Jaguars entered their tilt with the Blount Leopards with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Hillcrest came out on top against Blount by a score of 67-54 on Friday. For Hillcrest, this counts as revenge for the 46-35 defeat Blount walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2020.
Robert Simpson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times he's played. Jamir Sharpe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hillcrest's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Blount, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Hillcrest will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomasville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Hillcrest is ranked 60th). Blount will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Saraland at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Saraland has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
