Gates County came into Monday's match looking for another win against Perquimans, but Xavier Spellman wouldn't allow it. The Perquimans Pirates pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over the Gates County Red Barons on Monday thanks in part to Spellman, who posted 26 points. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high.

Nyquan Riddick was another key player, putting up seven points along with eight assists and six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

The win made it two in a row for Perquimans and bumps their season record up to 4-16. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Gates County, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Perquimans has already played their next contest, a 69-45 defeat against North Pitt on the 5th. As for Gates County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-45 loss against Martin County on the 4th.
