Softball Game Preview: Live Oak Eagles vs. East Ascension Spartans

Live Oak has gone 8-2 against East Ascension recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Live Oak will head out to square off against East Ascension at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Live Oak made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Walker, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Live Oak was the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over Walker on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th.

The team relied heavily on Halle Maxwell, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Ascension, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Denham Springs on Thursday as East Ascension made off with an 11-1 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Cayden Tullier was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mya Lanoux, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

East Ascension hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

East Ascension pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Live Oak, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Live Oak couldn't quite finish off East Ascension in their previous meeting on March 6th and fell 12-10. Can Live Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
