Baseball Recap: San Gorgonio Comes Up Short

San Gorgonio had lost six straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it seven. They fell just short of Jurupa Hills by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Jurupa Hills this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.

Donnie Sanchez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eudier Leano, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Jurupa Hills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 1st.

On Jurupa Hills' side, Aaden Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Lopez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eduardo Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jose Plazola was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

While San Gorgonio had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
