League recap: Carmel tops Warren Central to extend winning streak

Carmel extended the longest winning streak in Metropolitan this week by beating Warren Central, 10-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Greyhounds.

North Central was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating South Vigo 24-8. The Panthers came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.

The Warriors' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Anthony Cooper-Taylor threw for 99 yards and Glynn Hill had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Cooper-Taylor chipped in 76 yards. Harry Jake helped Warren Central's passing attack out by catching two balls for 22 yards.

The Braves' Danny Etling and Tyler Seibert have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Etling has thrown for 1126 yards this season, while Seibert has 28 catches for 556 yards. Warren Central's Cooper-Taylor leads the league in rushing yards with 356.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between North Vigo and Carmel. The Patriots enters the contest ranked 16th in the state, while Kevin Wright's team ranks second.

Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Steve Tutsie's team and South Vigo meet this week. The Warriors features well-regarded freshman Jaylen Daniels while Mark Raetz's team has Etling, a sought after senior.

There should be lots of points scored when Warren Central and the Braves face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Warriors comes in having scored 156 this season, while South Vigo has scored 119. Warren Central scored 7 points last week as it lost to the Greyhounds.

North Vigo took down Lawrence North 45-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
