Football Recap: Leon Lions vs. Westside Wolverines
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leon). They put the hurt on the Westside Wolverines with a sharp 45-21 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.
Kemp Peoples went supernova for Leon, throwing for 275 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 36 yards. That's the most rushing yards Peoples has posted since back in November of 2023. Jaylan Lurry was Peoples' top target, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Leon's defense and their ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Mason Tootill and Triston Thompson, who racked up seven sacks between them.
Leon's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Westside, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
As of now, neither Leon nor Westside have any future games scheduled.
