Basketball Game Preview: Meigs Marauders vs. Wellston Golden Rockets

Meigs is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Wellston a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Meigs Marauders will host the Wellston Golden Rockets at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-19, which was the final score in Meigs' tilt against Athens on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 747th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Wellston came up short against Gallia Academy on Tuesday and fell 47-34.

Wellston's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Meigs, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Things could have been worse for Meigs, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-33 loss to Wellston in their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
