Florence is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Sumrall, who was ranked 12th at the time (Florence was ranked 13th). Florence lost 6-3 to Sumrall on Tuesday. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Pike's offense. They came up short against South Jones on Tuesday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Braves: they've now lost four in a row.

North Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Florence took their win against North Pike in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
