Basketball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Takes a Loss

Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Great Oak Wolfpack. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 143rd).

Murrieta Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Great Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Murrieta Mesa is taking a road trip to face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Great Oak, they will challenge Murrieta Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Murrieta Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Great Oak likes a good challenge.
