Volleyball Recap: Athens Takes a Loss

Athens lost against Hartselle on September 9th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Tigers, falling 3-0.

While Athens was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-23.

Leading Hartselle to victory were Taylor Reaviel and Baylie Singleton. Reaviel had eight digs and two aces, while Singleton had six digs. That's the most aces Reaviel has posted over her last seven matchups.

Athens dropped their record down to 12-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hartselle, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 28-10.

Coincidentally, Athens and Hartselle will both be playing Arab the next time they take the court. The Golden Eagles will host the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
