Basketball Recap: A.C. Flora Comes Up Short

A.C. Flora lost against South Pointe back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The A.C. Flora Falcons fell to the South Pointe Stallions 65-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (57), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why A.C. Flora lost, don't look at Teonna Draughn. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar McCray, who put up 14 points.

South Pointe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was JaNyia Cunningham out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Cunningham is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Serenity Woods was another key player, putting up 18 points and six rebounds.

A.C. Flora has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for South Pointe, they pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

A.C. Flora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-22 victory against York on the 6th. As for South Pointe, they will welcome Camden at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in South Pointe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
