Baseball Recap: Manchester Red Hawks vs. East Catholic Eagles
Manchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 11-8 to the East Catholic Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 on April 6th.
Manchester got a big performance out of Ethan Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Ortiz's first of the season. Another player making a difference was EJ Perez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for East Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Looking ahead, Manchester will head out on the road to challenge Glastonbury at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for East Catholic, they will welcome Tolland at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
