Baseball Recap: Bath County's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Bath County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Parry McCluer, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chargers put the hurt on the Fighting Blues with a sharp 19-12 victory on Tuesday. The Chargers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

I Ingram made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Bath County: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Ingram was even better at the plate, going 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Bath County let W Campbell and O Perdue run wild. Campbell scored five runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances, while Perdue went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Bath County is undefeated when Perdue posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of J Buguess, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Bath County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bath County's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Parry McCluer, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bath County will head out to take on Eastern Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Parry McCluer, they will venture away from home to challenge Grace Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Fighting Blues' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
