Brecksville-Broadview Heights needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight matches and they got it from Charlotte Hocutt. The Bees came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hudson Explorers on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2 for which the team can thank Hocutt, who had 26 digs and three aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-101), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 21-25, 13-25, 15-11.

Despite the defeat, Hudson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lani Slater had 28 digs and four aces. Those 28 digs set a new season-high mark for Slater.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights' win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Hudson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
