Basketball Recap: Clemens Takes a Loss

Clemens lost against Steele back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Clemens Buffaloes took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Steele Knights. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Knights are ranked 14th).

When it comes to explaining why Clemens lost, don't look at Christian Dupree. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Dupree also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Letrell Hoover was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Clemens' defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Steele, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 26-2.

Clemens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-42 victory against San Marcos on the 24th. Steele has also already played their next game, an 82-76 loss against East Central on the 24th.
