Recap: Schaeffer Academy Lions vs. Southland Rebels
After flying high against the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics last Friday, the Schaeffer Academy Lions came back down to earth. The matchup between Schaeffer Academy and Southland wasn't particularly close, with Schaeffer Academy falling 53-36. Schaeffer Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southland apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Schaeffer Academy saw an underclassman step up: Lillian Morrisey dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Morrisey is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Gabriella Buehler was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Southland, their win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-16.
Schaeffer Academy will head out on the road to face off against Grand Meadow at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Schaeffer Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Southland, they will head out on the road to take on Spring Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Southland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Spring Grove is ranked 157th).
