Basketball Recap: Rock Port's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

After a string of ten wins, Rock Port's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to the Worth County Tigers 47-41. The contest marked the Blue Jays' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Rock Port saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Meyerkorth posted 26 points along with eight boards and three steals. Meyerkorth's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Ellis, who scored four points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rock Port smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Worth County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karson Briner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Caleb New was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Rock Port's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4. As for Worth County, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Rock Port wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-58 win against Braymer on the 30th. As for Worth County, they will challenge West Nodaway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
