Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Currituck County's 14th in Last 15 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Currituck County rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Franklinton Red Rams by a score of 57-49. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th in North Carolina, while the Red Rams are ranked 228th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Currituck County was led to victory by Arianna White and Savannah Banks. White went 6-for-14 to rack up 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Banks dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points White has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amani Dawson, who earned ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Franklinton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Meredith Wilkins, who had 12 points. Rihanna Hunt was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. With the loss, Franklinton broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-10.

Coming up, Currituck County will welcome Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Currituck County is on a 16-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Southern School of Energy and Sustainability a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Franklinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
