Recap: Davis Darts vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels
The Davis Darts put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 victory over Mountain Ridge. For Davis, this counts as revenge for the 61-50 defeat Mountain Ridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Davis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was T'Maea Eteuati out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kendra Kitchen was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and six assists.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Kya Newton scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Newton scored a full 39.6% of Mountain Ridge's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Jangard, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Davis pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will challenge Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on January 12th. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Skyridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Mountain Ridge likes a good challenge.
