Softball Recap: St. Raphael Academy Wins Going Away Against Mt. Hope

St. Raphael Academy got themselves on the board against Mt. Hope on Wednesday, but Mt. Hope never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 14-0 win. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Emma Martin made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, St. Raphael Academy let Noelle Welch and Avalynn Guatieri run wild. Welch went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Guatieri went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Guatieri's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Roman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

St. Raphael Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Raphael Academy's record now sits at 9-1. As for Mt. Hope, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Raphael Academy will face off against Cranston West at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mt. Hope, they will square off against Cranston East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbolts will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
