Softball Preview: Winchester Community Golden Falcons vs. Frankton Eagles
Winchester Community has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Frankton Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Saturday, it was close, but Winchester Community sidestepped Wes-Del for a 6-5 win.
Winchester Community saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Averi Ludwick, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Meanwhile, Frankton entered their tilt with Madison-Grant with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Argylls on Thursday. That's two games straight that Frankton has won by exactly two runs.
Winchester Community's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14. As for Frankton, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5.
Winchester Community came up short against Frankton in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, falling 8-3. Can Winchester Community avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
