League recap: Unity's Despiegelaere delivers best pitching performance from past week

Nate Despiegelaere was the best pitcher in Lakeland - West this week. He won one game and struck out 10 batters.

Unity made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fourth to second place in the league thanks to a 2-2 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, St. Croix Falls fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 2-1 in the past week. First-place Grantsburg (15-1, 7-0) went 4--1 over the past week.

The Saints had a league-high 18 steals as a team this week, but still trail the Eagles, which has 52 on the year, for the season lead. Ben Clausen has racked up 11 steals on his own this season for St. Croix Falls.

Unity gave up just eight walks last week, ensuring that it held on to the top spot in the league in that category with only 70 allowed for the season.

The Eagles' Kyle Sorensen finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. He is first in the league with 21 hits this year, and has a .396 batting average.
