Basketball Game Preview: Newbury Park Adventist Gators vs. Santa Rosa Academy Rangers

The Newbury Park Adventist Gators and the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Newbury Park Adventist comes in on five and Santa Rosa Academy on six.

Last Friday, Newbury Park Adventist didn't have too much trouble with San Fernando Valley Academy as they won 44-30. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while the Huskies are ranked 1171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Rosa Academy). They took their match on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 105-46 win over Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Newbury Park Adventist better keep an eye on Chris Jones. He was instrumental in Santa Rosa Academy's win, going 15 for 20 on his way to 37 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The game was Jones' 18th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mycah Mason, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Santa Rosa Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Santa Rosa Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.1 points. As for Newbury Park Adventist, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
