Cross beats Baptist Hill for their eighth straight win

The Cross Trojans had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.6 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They blew past Baptist Hill 52-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Cross, who have now won seven matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.

Cross was led to victory by Mah?Ky Green and Karmello Jones. Green rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Jones rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Green's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Tyler Mungin was another key contributor, rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Cross' victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Lake Marion and 2-7 Military Magnet Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.9% over those games). As for Baptist Hill, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Cross will head out on the road to face off against Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burke comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Baptist Hill, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. John's at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (St. John's is ranked 225th, while Baptist Hill is ranked 208th).
