Football Recap: Derry Trojans vs. Deer Lakes Lancers
Derry lost against Deer Lakes back in September of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Derry Trojans came up short against the Deer Lakes Lancers, falling 34-12. Deer Lakes had a senior duo take command as Zier Williams rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries and Jake Fleischer rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Fleischer really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run.
Derry now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Deer Lakes, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Derry will face off against Burrell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Derry is facing Burrell at the right time seeing as Burrell is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Deer Lakes, they will host Freeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Lakes will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
