Baseball Recap: Johnson County Extends Winning Streak to Four

Johnson County came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cloudland Highlanders a 15-0 shutout. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Longhorns this season.

Nate Dorman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dorman was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Blevins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Avery Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Johnson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloudland only posted an OBP of .067.

Johnson County pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cloudland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
