Baseball Game Preview: East Mecklenburg Eagles vs. Charlotte Latin Hawks

The East Mecklenburg Eagles will take on the Charlotte Latin Hawks in a tournament on Monday. East Mecklenburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight losses, while Charlotte Latin will come in with 11 straight victories.

East Mecklenburg fell victim to Charlotte Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 8-0 to the Knights.

Meanwhile, while Charlotte Latin put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Covenant Day. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Lions 1-0. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.

Covenant Day's batters probably weren't too happy with Avery Booker, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up zero walks). Booker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Hampton, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Charlotte Latin's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for East Mecklenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
