Madison Central managed to slip by Ballard the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 10-1 to the Bruins on Friday. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Madison Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lina Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Assumption got the win against Cooper on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lauren Satterly was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Campisano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ashley Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Assumption always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Assumption has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Madison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Madison Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Assumption struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Madison Central couldn't quite finish off Assumption in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 and fell 3-1. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
