Game recap: Sommers a threat on ground, through air as Holy Family beats Mead

David Sommers threw two touchdowns and ran for two more as Holy Family (Broomfield, Colo.) defeated Mead (Longmont, Colo.) 42-20 on Saturday.

The Tigers were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Sommers to Ryan Schafer in the first quarter.

Holy Family expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. HF scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Sommers.

Sommers and Jarred Deherrera ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Maverick.



Mead's Tate Aragon was the standout player for his team. The senior running back ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.

In a non-conference game next week Mead (1-2) takes on Erie, and Holy Family (3-0) will go up against Silver Creek also in a non-conference game.
