Softball Recap: Myrtle Takes a Loss

Myrtle entered their game against East Union on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Myrtle Hawks came up short against the East Union Urchins, falling 12-5. The contest marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Shelby Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Ally Murphy was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Myrtle fell to 4-1. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Myrtle will face off against North Pontotoc at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. North Pontotoc has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something Myrtle will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Union, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-0 win against Ingomar on the 6th.
