Volleyball Recap: Regis Groff Takes a Loss

If Regis Groff was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Denver West on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fusion lost 3-0 to the Thomas Jefferson Spartans on Tuesday. The Fusion have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Regis Groff was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.

Madina Ibrahim paced Regis Groff's offense, picking up ten kills. Ibrahim got some help from Brenda Bangala and her 16 assists. Daisha Gordon and Kyo Catano kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Regis Groff's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-9. As for Thomas Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Regis Groff will square off against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will face off against George Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
