Softball Recap: Stratford Drops Highest Score of Season Against Northbrook

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stratford). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Northbrook Raiders a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Allison Hibbetts was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callie Piercy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Stratford is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. Northbrook is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Stratford has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Fort Bend Christian Academy on the 28th. As for Northbrook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-4 victory against Stafford on the 27th.
