Baseball Recap: Everglades Gets the Win

Everglades posted their closest win since February 20th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs 13-12.

Anthony Lugo and Eliezer Romero did most of the damage at the plate: Lugo went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Romero went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those three RBI gave Lugo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Billini, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

The win got Everglades back to even at 8-8. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Everglades is taking a road trip to take on McArthur at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everglades is facing McArthur at the right time seeing as McArthur is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will welcome American Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Gibbons' pitchers better be ready for this one: American Heritage has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
