Basketball Recap: A Sykes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grant over Buckeye

Grant lost against Buckeye back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grant Cougars took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckeye Panthers. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was A Sykes, who posted ten points and five steals. With that strong performance, Sykes is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of A Sykes, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points.

Grant's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Buckeye, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Grant didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-37 loss against Holy Savior Menard on the 9th. As for Buckeye, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-16 defeat against Montgomery on the 10th.
