Softball Recap: Blacksburg Triumphs

Blacksburg took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Christiansburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blue Demons 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since May 22, 2024.

Keely Semtner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Hudgins, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Blacksburg and bumps their season record up to 9-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Christiansburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Blacksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Christiansburg, they will be playing at home against Hidden Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
