Soccer Game Preview: Richwoods vs. Morton

The Richwoods Knights will face off against the Morton Potters at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Richwoods is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Champaign Central just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Maroons.

Richwoods' goal came courtesy of Acosia Morris, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, Morton had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Rockets. The result was nothing new for Morton, who have now won ten contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Morton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Richwoods, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3-2.

Richwoods skirted past Morton 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Potters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
