Volleyball Recap: GVCS Broadfording Triumphs

GVCS Broadfording hadn't done well against Calvary Christian Academy recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions had just enough and edged out Calvary Christian Academy 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on September 5th.

In the three sets GVCS Broadfording was on fire: they won each by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-12, 25-12, 21-25, 15-4.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madie Robinette, who had 36 digs, eight kills, six aces, and one block. Robinette is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia McCumber, who had 28 digs and six kills.

GVCS Broadfording's victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. GVCS Broadfording is set to challenge their familiar foe New Life Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy will square off against rival Grace Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
